The 2017 San Francisco Computer Science Summer Institute

The 2017 San Francisco Computer Science Summer Institute is a component of SF-CS4ALL, a collaborative project between San Francisco State University's College of Science and Engineering and Graduate College of Education with San Francisco Unified School District. SF-CS4ALL was designed to address the challenges of providing all k-12 students the opportunity to participate in CS education in their schools by enriching their curriculum specific and general CS content knowledge, including emerging technologies. The CS Summer Institute provided professional development that supports teachers developing a high level of self-efficacy, computer science content knowledge, culturally relevant student-centered pedagogical approaches, and equity-based recruitment and support strategies.

The CS Summer Institute was held August 7-11, 2017, in Burk Hall on the SFSU campus, was attended by 40+ SFUSD k-12 teachers, and was lead by Faculty from CoSE, GCoE and SFUSD.

This program is supported by funding from the National Science Foundation, grant number 1649277.
