Application Deadline

Applications for Fall semester admission are due February 1.

Applications for Spring semester admission are due October 15.


Program Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution

  • 3.0 grade point average in last 60 credit units attempted

  • Concurrently enrolled in or already earned a Master's degree in special education or related field*

  • Written English Proficiency Requirement (WEP)

*Applicants who wish to concurrently pursue the Professional Clear Education Specialist Credential with the Certificate and/or Master of Arts degree must complete all Preliminary Education Specialist coursework prior to certificate coursework.

Step 1: Application to Division of Graduate Studies

You must first apply to the university through the Division of Graduate Studies. If you are a US resident follow the Domestic Students procedure. If you are a non-US resident follow the International Students procedure.


Step 2: Application to Program Department

You must also apply directly to the specific department within the Graduate College of Education for this program.

Step 3: Confirm Admission Status

After submitting your applications you can confirm your admission status on your SF State Gateway account.
