Application Deadline

Applications for Fall semester admission are due May 1st.
(if June 1st is on a holiday or weekend, the form is due on the following business day)

Applicants are accepted for Fall semester admission only.

Program Requirements

  • Possession of an elementary or secondary education teaching credential or 24 units of professional coursework directly relevant to education.
  • A minimum of two years of teaching experience.
  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree with a 3.0 minimum GPA for the last 60 units.

Step 1: Application to Division of Graduate Studies 

You must first apply to the university through the Division of Graduate Studies. If you are a US resident follow the Domestic Students procedure. If you are a non-US resident follow the International Students procedure.


Step 2: Application to Elementary Education Department

You must also apply directly to the specific department within the Graduate College of Education for this program.

Step 3: Confirm Admission Status

After submitting your applications you can confirm your admission status on your SF State Gateway account.
