The 1990 Institute has hosted annual two-day summer workshops on modern China since 2013. The primary goal of these workshops is to inspire, encourage, and enable middle and high school teachers to include modern China in their curriculum.

For our fifth annual workshop this year, we will take an in-depth social and cultural look at China’s institutions, values, and specifically, how people’s lives have changed after China joined the world economy a few decades following the Cultural Revolution.

Attending teachers are paid the stipend after they have completed all the attendance requirements. San Francisco Bay Area Teachers – $200 | Other California Teachers – $300 | Out-of-State Teachers – $400.

Better Together: California Teachers Summit

California teachers are working hard to foster inclusive classrooms, spark learning and equip all students to succeed. Now more than ever, teachers deserve an opportunity to come together and share ways to support our students, protect our values as educators and set an example for the nation.

On Friday, July 28, join thousands of teachers from across California for a FREE day of learning featuring a TED-style EdTalk presented by a local teacher and Edcamp discussions led by teachers, for teachers. You will walk away with access to the latest strategies and tools you can bring back to your classroom, and connect to a lasting and powerful network of peers.

Together, we can ensure that every California student receives a quality education and is prepared to take on the challenges and opportunities ahead.
