The Single Subject Teaching Credential Program is designed to prepare qualified candidates with the course work and field experiences needed to enable them to effectively teach their subject in California public schools, particularly middle and high schools.
The Single Subject Teaching Credential program prepares qualified candidates to teach the following content areas in California public middle and high schools:
- Physical Education
- Social Science
- World Languages*
*The Single Subject Program can only place a limited number of World Languages candidates in student teaching. The number varies depending on the language.
The Single Subject Intern Program is a part-time, alternative teacher certification program for classroom teachers who are earning a teaching credential at the same time as they are employed by a public school. If you are currently employed or have received an offer of employment with a public school district in the Bay Area, you may qualify for this intern program.
