New CalRTA Scholarship Endowment Established for GCOE Candidates
After many years of donations that have funded more than 250 of our GCOE candidates, the San Francisco Division 36 of the California Retired Teachers Association recently established a $500,000 endowment that will extend their generosity for many years to come. Scholarships will be for MA or credential candidates in Elementary, Secondary, Bilingual, Special Education, and Speech Language Hearing Sciences, with preference given to candidates committed to teaching in SFUSD. CalRTA Division 36 was founded in 1956 to support San Francisco public schools, and students enrolled in teacher preparation programs at public universities. It’s remarkable to know that former teachers are so committed to giving back to the profession, and understand how meaningful their financial support is to future educators. We are so grateful for CalRTA’s vision and partnership.
