Step to College and John Henry High School Students Visited GCOE

On November 17, over 50 high school students from John Henry High School in Richmond, including many who are in the Step to College program, visited SFSU campus and the GCOE, at the invitation of Mr. Romel Harmon and ELSIT. Speakers from EOP, METRO, and Undergraduate Admissions were there as well. The counselor who came with them, Mr. Polachart, wrote this note after the visit: “We appreciate you so much for hosting us and welcoming our scholars to your campus. You should have seen how excited the students were to go to the campus that day. For some of them, it was their first ever field trip and first time ever being in the city despite living in the east bay their whole lives. They really loved the campus and it really motivated the students to go to college.” Thanks to Anarose Schelstrate for all the behind-the-scenes organization. It was an inspiring afternoon.
