We’ve joined SFUTR – the San Francisco Urban Teacher Residency Program

The Secondary Education Department and GCOE are now part of the San Francisco Urban Teacher Residency (SFUTR), funded by a grant from the State of California and the CTC to San Francisco Unified School District, that has existed in SF for several years. We are joining Stanford as the other teacher prep program in SFUTR. This year we have six Math Credential candidates who will be completing year-long immersive placement in classrooms, and each of them will be given a $20,000 grant stipend to support their full-time engagement. We hope to grow the number of STEM participants over the 5-year life of the grant. Evie Baldinger is our faculty liaison, and we’ll soon have a program coordinator. This is a well-documented and research-based practice for preparing teachers, and we are looking forward to learning as we go.
