Career Day for Future Educators

Invitation to Career Day for all GCOE Students

Dear GCOE Students,

On Thursday March 5th the Graduate College of Education is partnering with local school districts and the SFSU Career & Leadership Development Office to bring you a career day designed specifically for future educators. We invite each of you to participate for the whole event. If you are a student teacher or clinical intern, your program will allow you to leave your placement on March 5 to come to campus (be sure to plan ahead with your mentor and supervisor).

Who should attend?

  • All current credential and licensure candidates, including:
    • Multiple Subject & Single Subject
    • Special Education
    • Speech Language Hearing Sciences
    • School Psychology
    • School Counseling
    • School Social Work
  • Any student currently enrolled in a GCOE program
  • Anyone who graduated from a GCOE program in Fall 2025

🌟 CAREER DAY SCHEDULE 🌟

9:30 – 11:30 District-Focused Mini Conference (Burk Hall #1)

GCOE will host a Mini Conference created to give you a view of district hiring and help you stand out as an applicant.

We will start the morning with a light breakfast, then share practical tools and resources to navigate the hiring stage of your career in education.

What you’ll gain:

  • An overview of working in California public schools
  • Guidance on preparing application materials and required documents
  • District-led presentations covering:
    • Hiring timelines and application processes
    • What makes each district unique
    • Tips for submitting a competitive application
    • Prepare, learn, and get inside knowledge from district partners.

11:30 a.m. Break

            Get some lunch and prepare for meeting employers.

12:00 – 3:00 SFSU Career and Internship Fair, Mashouf Wellness Center

Meet directly with district HR representatives, ask questions, and make connections that can lead to job offers.

📌 IMPORTANT:

  • All current student teachers and clinical interns are strongly encouraged to attend both the Mini Conference and Career Fair. Our district partners are coming to meet you! Your program will allow you to leave your placement on March 5 to come to campus for this important career event. Be sure to plan ahead with your mentor or cooperating teacher, and supervisor. Note: Full-time Intern teachers will need to request the day off from their district to attend.
